Its commercial relationship with Starlink also shows that a traditional carrier can be a distribution partner rather than only a rival. [2] The OTR data places the spectrum deal beside the cost of building infrastructure. Our connection is that better satellite reach can increase the importance of ground assets. Buildings, busy streets and heavy traffic still create problems a hybrid system must solve. If SpaceX pursues that route, towers, fibre connections, customer support and network agreements become part of the product. Existing operators could gain negotiating work even while facing a future competitor. That is a possible business path, not an announced wholesale contract. The opposing case is strong: satellite performance may improve quickly, and SpaceX could build or buy more of the ground network itself. The T-Mobile service is also not a performance test of a future SpaceX offering. During the next week, we would watch for dated regulatory decisions and named ground-network arrangements, then check promised coverage against actual service terms. The thesis weakens if the strategy remains mainly outdoor coverage without a terrestrial service plan.
